Gym Rats

It’s that time of season again… BATHING SUIT SEASON. The three words that some of us dread more than others. So what are our options?  Nasty diets that leave us hungry and irritable, gym workouts that make us look around at the other people that we want to look like only to feel disappointment because we are not seeing our own results, or avoid any situation that evolves a bathing suit while we sit at home running up our electricity bill. It’s time for a change!!

A change is what you are going to get with Gym Rats. Gym Rats is a made up of four trainers that teach you new, fun, and results driven exercises that help you achieve your fitness goal.  Unlike all the other gyms that seem to not care about their clients, Gym Rats thrive to make you feel like family and help you to “Get fit and don’t quit!”. Each class size is about 30-35 people and about 45 minutes to an hour long. Two classes are running simultaneously with different workouts so you have the option of choosing which session you would like to do.

Andy and Jason, the lead trainers, would like you to feel as though you see a difference in their workout routines. To accomplish this your first time is free! After you’re done and totally in love with the workout (as I know you will be) they have different memberships available. Now I know what you’re thinking… “Oh No! Memberships! All that paper work and contracts!!” WRONG! I told you Gym Rats are different. All you have to do is sign a waver and choose from one of the sessions below:

o        For individual sessions= $8

o        Weekend sessions (8 classes)= $48

Each session is a different routine that is all week. There are nine routines total that are new, exciting, original, and fun. Some routines to choose from are kettle ball, full body blast, shred, abs, g.a.l, f.i.e.r.c.e, annihilate, and kickboxing. Gym Rats gives you a month to complete the program and see results. After your month they have a check up that is a body fat analysis. At this time you have the option of asking for a personalized meal plan or personal training.

L by Lavish Teen Class

The launch of our make up line L by Lavish has allowed very exciting tutorial classes to be held in our very own Lavish studio. Our latest class was specifically for teens held on Saturday August 11th taught by lead make up artist Nikki Marie Garcia. Teens got a first hand look at dos and don'ts of makeup applications. What better way to make an entrance back to school then with a new look. Here are a few tips to follow to get the Lavish look:

Primetime: Eye and lip primer is a must to start off with. For the longest wearing eye shadow, apply directly to eyelids with fingertips or sponge. Only a very thin coat is necessary. Primer is for anyone who has trouble with eye make-up smudging, wearing off or blending unevenly.

Used as a Lip Primer it prevents feathering and keeps lipstick or gloss from fading and changing color. Apply a very thin layer with fingertips or sponge and blend beyond the line of lips. Now you're ready for lipstick or gloss.

Pop of Color: A bright lip can make a good statement for any outing. Application can be done directly from lipstick or with brush for a more defined look. Lighter shades of eye shadow and or blush is recommended so the focus stays on the lips.  

Winged Eyeliner: Is a popular trend that can be worn in many different ways. You can apply with liquid liner or a pencil and smudge the wing out. As for the length there is no right or wrong way it just depends on how dramatic you are willing to wear it. Remember if you are wearing this bold look a lighter neutral eye shadow is best!

1. What inspired you to start your own business?

I’ve always inspired to be a business owner and I’ve always loved to bake! I started by making cake pops for fun and then was asked by a bride if I can make some for her wedding and put together a little sweet station! I said of course and from then on, I knew this was what I wanted to do.

2. Why should people hire you for their events?

Most people think they will save money trying to put together their own candy buffet when in reality you end up spending just as much or even more than if you hired a professional. Think about it: you buy all the glass candy jars, linens, decorations, tongs and scoops and what do you do with them after? Not to mention figuring out how much candy to buy for all your guests and taking the time to put a creative display together. I take care of the special details to make your event SWEET!

3. What is your favorite part of your job?

My goal is to over exceed client’s expectations. Seeing them so excited, happy, and thankful is the reason why I love what I do.

Employee Spotlight Miranda Oravetz

Welcome to the Lavish Team Miranda!!! 

Lavish Salon and Day Spa is expanding each and everyday. With that being said, we are happy to announce our newest assistant Miranda Oravetz. She joined our team December 2011 and has been working side-by-side master stylist and owner Samantha Murguia. Being an assistant requires dedication and perseverance to gain knowledge and experience from senior stylists. Miranda has been working diligently and is excited to be a part of the Lavish family. She has been working since 2008 and gives credit to her grandmother who took her to salon visits, sparking interest in cosmetology from an early age. Her enthusiasm for this field is seen through her work. When asked about her experience so far working at Lavish Salon and Day Spa, Miranda said, “I love coming to work everyday and being part of the family.” Miranda has also been learning first hand how Brazilian Blowout, KMS, Goldwell, and Bumble & Bumble hair products work. Using them Miranda says she’s been able to produce an amazing blow out.To get to know her a little better, we asked her  few questions and here's what she had to say:

1. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoy watching my friends band play and I love taking any educational classes.

2. What brought you here to Lavish? I used to drive by Mission Grove all the time and a friend had mentioned Lavish salon and recommended applying there.

3. What is the most enjoyable part of your job?  Interacting with the clients! I love that feeling of joy just knowing my clients walk out happy.

4. What is the best hair product you recommend to your clients? KMS makeover spray!! I love using it for myself because it is the true gift of time. It requires less maintenance for my hair, that means I don't have to wash it everyday and it still looks great after some makeover spray!

She looks forward to learning even more about color formulating and fine tuning her cutting techniques. We are excited to see what the future holds and are excited to learn and grow with Miranda!

Employee Spot Light: TJ Nguyen

The Lavish Team joyfully introduces our newest team member, T.J. Nguyen. TJ is our New Nail Technician as well as an Educator for the Nail Company Young Nails. The work she has shown has definitely been Lavish to say the least. The Lavish team has had a blast getting to know TJ these past few weeks. We asked her a few questions to tell us a little about herself so you can get to know her too, this is what she had to say.....

1. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Riverside my whole life. I went to North High School and UC Riverside.

2. What do enjoy doing for fun outside of work? I love to go to the movies or watch them at home with my husband and 2 dogs. I love to shop, decorate my house or try new nails designs. I think and live NAILS non-stop!

3. What is your favorite nail design? I haven’t yet decided which ones have been my personal favorite. I have fun creating them! My joy is seeing my clients leave happy.

4. What has been the most outrageous request? A client wanted me to do 3-D sushi on her nails. I didn’t get to do them because she was a no show which was a bummer because that was going to be challenging, but I was willing to take it on.

5. How did you start in the Industry? Getting into the nail industry was actually a fluke: I graduated college to find out everyone was losing their jobs so my mom told me to go to school to get my nail license for nails to keep me busy. I ended up really loving it and getting to create all these sorts of neat designs. Thanks Mom!

6. What brought you here to Lavish? I actually relied on Yelp to find local salons that can offer the right kind of atmosphere that I knew I can fit it. I came across Lavish as a place I can see myself working at. After a few emails back and forth with Samantha, here I am! I really loved the fact that Lavish was very adamant about on-going education because being an educator you have to always learn the new techniques and be aware of new trends.

7. What is the most enjoyable part of your job? Besides all the laughing, singing, and dancing that goes on in the salon, and besides getting to do pretty nails all day, I actually get to educate fellow nail techs in the Industry with Young nails. I get to encourage and show other techs that it doesn’t take much to be successful in the salon and in their career, but to love what you do. It’s my passion.

8. What inspires you to keep doing nails? The Clients!!!! Knowing that they're going to want something new the next appointment. I try to give them more than what they expect every time. It makes my day knowing that a client wants to go out and flaunt their nails.

9. What is the best nail product that you recommend for your clients? Young Nails Rose Oil. I use it everyday. It smells AMAZING just like roses and it does wonders on your hands. Use it on a daily basis to promote healthy nail growth.

Lavish Christmas 2011

This year the Lavish ladies and gentlemen celebrated in our annual Christmas Party on Sunday December 4th. Where better to have the festivities than at Lavish Salon and Day Spa where clients shared in the holiday spirit. As the night continued, awards were given to Lavish employees for their hard work. The 99.1 employees helped us celebrate as well. ODM The Voice of the IE shown at the bottom, had a dance off with our stylist Brandon Nichols. Overall the night was successful in rewarding the Lavish team and bringing in the Holiday Season the Lavish way. 

Lavish Team at the Loma Linda Ronald Mconald House

The Lavish Team is truly blessed to be able to give back to our community. On Monday December 5 our team went to the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda, a holiday tradition for Lavish. We spent the day pampering the families with haircuts, blow drys, manicures, waxing, and massages.

Our massage therapist Tamara was performing massages in one of the most warm inviting living rooms any of us have ever seen. A much needed stress relief for the parents of the children that are in the hospital.

Esthetician Erika and Nail Techinician Berdy were Lavishing up the ladies and gentlemen in the formal dining room. They provided waxing services and manicures. The little ones also joined in on the pampering.

Our stylists Samantha, Sarah, Cecy, Brandy, Kellie & Brandon were in the patio giving haircuts and styles. Having a sick child leaves little time for self maintenance. Needless to say everyone left feeling lavish and more relaxed.

Diana Wehbe from 991 KGGI was there bonding and cracking jokes with the families. A laugh can always turn someones day around. She also was handing out WeBe Chillen shirts.

It was a moving experience for our team to be able to reach out and provide services for these families who are going through a rough time. We are reminded of how much something so simple as a haircut can go a long way. Bonding and sharing laughter brought the Lavish team that much closer to the Ronald McDonald House this 2nd time around.

Whether we like it or not...It's time for school! But its not ALL bad, all it means is that there's new styles and new fashions! My favorite season is fall because you get to wear comfy sweaters, boots, and cute jeans. However, just because you like to be warm and comfortable, does not mean you have to be sloppy and messy.                                             Our Violent Lips Photo shoot....
                                           

So we are sooooo excited about the success of our latest photo shoot. On July 12th we had a huge shoot at Lavish Salon for our newest retail product Violent Lips which turned out amazing.

We had 6 models from all ages that shot with Photographer Kris Lumague into the late hours of the night.

The long day started with the models with our Make-up Department with Makeup Artists Nikki Garcia and our very own Ashley Swank and Erika Murguia. Then made their way into our Hair department where the the transformations continued with Master Stylists Samantha Murguia and Senior Stylists Sarah Leslie and

Cecy Ceja.

Kris did an outstanding job and handled the whole shoot so well with what vision we were aiming for. He captured our models perfectly and thanks to our amazing team we have some great photos to look forward to.
